Fencing and water together
When we subdivide a paddock it’s a perfect time to improve your stock water management system. Running pipe and setting a trough at that point adds very little to the job.
So when we walk a fence line for a quote, we can work out if you want an addition to your water system at the same time. Where the trough sits, where the pipe runs, and whether your existing line will carry another one.
Fencing off a creek or stream
For water purity stock are being fenced out of waterways. We can fence waterways and run new pipe to their paddock.
Where the trough goes
A trough in the wrong corner means stock walk further than they need to. A trough on a fence line can serve two paddocks off one connection. A trough in low ground can cause a bog. A trough that’s not level is not efficient!
After 20 years in commercial stock management I can help you set up your lifestyle property or farm to make stock management easy for you. Less moving stock around, less chasing water leaks, and more enjoying your lifestyle.

What decides the price
Distance from your existing line. Short runs off a nearby line are inexpensive. If the paddock sits well away from water you already have I can give you an accurate quote on site.
Whether your existing system will carry another trough. Adding one can drop pressure across the lot. I check this on site so you find out beforehand rather than after the trough is in.
Ground conditions. Rock and wet ground change how the pipe goes in. Knowing what’s underneath means the quote is accurate rather than a guess.
How many troughs. One connection on a fence line can serve two paddocks. But you might like more to completely upgrade the water system on your farm.
Whether it goes in with the fencing. If we can tie water in with running a fence line the job is more cost efficient. New troughs look great and work well with post and rail fences.

Common questions
Can you do water without fencing?
Yes. Trough replacements, new pipe runs and repairs are all jobs on their own.
What if there’s no water to that part of the property at all?
I can typically run water for lifestyle properties. If the farm is larger give me a ring so I can hear what your water situation is and if I can help.
Can you fix a leaking trough?
Yes. Often it’s a ballcock or a fitting rather than the trough itself, which is quick.
